The norm of working as a barista by day, and playing in San Diego’s Music scene at night changed when in 2012 Gene Padigos bought his first small 600sq feet cafe with his wife Kelsey. They would be considered as one of the pioneers of a now hip and lively area in North Park. Padigos’s vision of Subterranean , was to make a cafe reminiscent to old school 90s counterculture cafes, that give offerings of in-house roasted coffee, and a DELICIOUS comfort food menu
